Prabowo Arrives at the DPR to Announce the 2027 APBN Draft: Full Agenda

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - President Prabowo Subianto has arrived at the DPR Building in Jakarta to announce the Macroeconomic Framework and the Key Policy Principles of Fiscal Policy (KEMPPKF) for the 2027 Fiscal Year. Prabowo wore a black suit paired with a light blue tie. He was accompanied by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who wore a similar suit though with a grey tie. Prabowo arrived around 9:32 WIB at the DPR building and was greeted by Speaker of the DPR Puan Maharani, Deputy Speakers Sufmi Dasco, Saan Mustofa, and Sari Yuliati. Prabowo will speak in the 19th plenary session of the DPR’s fifth session for 2025–2026. In the plenary agenda, the DPR’s Legislation Body report on the Second Evaluation of the 2026 Prolegnas Priority Bills will be followed by a decision. They will also hear the factions’ opinions on the Bill proposed by Commission III concerning amendments to Law No. 2/2002 on the Indonesian National Police, followed by a decision to become a DPR RI Bill. Chairman of DPR Commission XI Misbakhun previously spoke about the president’s attendance, describing it as a new tradition. “Reading the macroeconomic framework and the fiscal policy main points is usually read by the Finance Minister on behalf of the President; if, today, the President reads it directly, that is indeed a new tradition,” Misbakhun said. “Anyway, the KEMPPKF’s macro framework — there are many macroeconomic parameters,” he added. Misbakhun noted there is a desire for the President to deliver the KEMPPKF personally because he views the national budget as a serious policy that must be communicated to the public. He also said the public will be watching closely what the President focuses on in the KEMPPKF, and asked that the President’s DPR appearance not be drawn into issues about the IHSG and the rupiah’s weakness. “In the matter of the KEMPPKF, the exchange rate is only one aspect among many macroeconomic parameters in our macro framework.”
