Prabowo Arrives at Halim After State Visit from Japan-South Korea

President Prabowo Subianto has completed a series of state visits to Japan and South Korea. Prabowo arrived back in the homeland in the early hours of Thursday, 2 April 2026.

The Head of State and his entourage landed at TNI AU Halim Perdanakusuma Base, Jakarta. From the foot of the presidential aircraft stairs, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka welcomed Prabowo’s arrival. In addition, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, TNI Chief General Agus Subiyanto, Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and National Intelligence Agency Chief Muhammad Herindra also greeted the President’s arrival.

There was also Garuda Indonesia President Director Glenny Kairupan and Presidential Security Force Commander Major General TNI Edwin Adrian Sumantha.

A live broadcast from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube showed Prabowo shaking hands with the welcoming officials. Prabowo briefly conversed with Glenny before entering the presidential vehicle.

The white Maung SUV with RI 1 licence plate then departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base.

President Prabowo began his state visit series in Japan on 29-31 March 2026. In Tokyo, Japan, Prabowo met Japanese Emperor Naruhito, who invited Prabowo to the Imperial Palace. He also held bilateral meetings with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. Takaichi hosted the President’s delegation at Akasaka Palace, Tokyo.

In addition, the President attended the Indonesia-Japan business forum, which resulted in several cooperation agreements worth US$23.63 billion or approximately Rp401.71 trillion.

Prabowo then continued his visit to the Republic of Korea. On Wednesday morning, 1 April 2026, President Prabowo met with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung at the Blue House or Presidential Palace of the Republic of Korea, Seoul.

President Prabowo and President Lee agreed to elevate the comprehensive partnership between Indonesia and the Republic of Korea to the highest level, namely a special comprehensive strategic partnership. The two approved enhanced cooperation in various sectors, including the economy, defence, and artificial intelligence (AI).

Furthermore, Prabowo witnessed the signing of 10 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between government institutions, as well as 17 MoUs between business actors from both countries worth US$10.268 billion or approximately Rp174 trillion.
