Prabowo approves expansion of Home Renovation Programme in 2027
President Prabowo Subianto has approved a plan to expand the Home Renovation Programme in 2027, aiming to broaden public access to decent housing while continuing the acceleration of subsidised house construction and national housing programmes.
‘The development of the Home Renovation Programme implementation targets the repair of 400,000 uninhabitable homes into safe and comfortable liveable houses for communities in various regions,’ said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, explaining the report from Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait to President Prabowo, as quoted in a written statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The President received Minister Maruarar Sirait at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday afternoon. The meeting was also attended by Standard Chartered Indonesia President Director Rino Santodiono Donosepoetro.
According to Teddy, the President received a report on the progress of several priority programmes in the housing sector aimed at improving the quality of people’s dwellings and expanding access to decent and affordable homes.
Apart from the Home Renovation Programme, Maruarar also reported on the progress of subsidised flat construction in the Meikarta area, Bekasi Regency, which forms part of the acceleration of the 3 Million Homes Programme.
‘Progress in the construction of subsidised flats in the Meikarta area, Bekasi Regency, as part of accelerating the 3 Million Homes Programme, which has now entered the land clearing and groundbreaking stages,’ said Teddy.
Furthermore, Teddy stated that Maruarar also conveyed the plan to add to the Home Renovation Programme in 2027 to broaden the reach of the programme’s benefits for communities in need.
According to Teddy, President Prabowo has given his approval to the plan as part of the government’s efforts to strengthen housing programmes for the public.
The government also continues to push for the implementation of various priority programmes in the housing sector, including the construction of subsidised houses for low-income communities, the building of flats, the organisation of slum areas, and the development of more accessible housing financing schemes.
‘These efforts are part of the government’s commitment to providing decent, affordable, and quality housing for all Indonesian people,’ said Teddy.
This step aligns with President Prabowo’s vision to ensure that development not only generates economic growth but also delivers welfare that is felt directly by the community through access to decent, affordable, and quality housing.
