Prabowo Appreciates Thailand's Assistance in Repatriating Online Scam Victims
President Prabowo Subianto has expressed his appreciation to the Government of Thailand for its assistance in facilitating the repatriation of Indonesian citizens who fell victim to online scams. “I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude to the Government of Thailand for the assistance and close cooperation in facilitating the repatriation of Indonesian citizens who are victims of online scams,” Prabowo said in a joint press statement with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday. Prabowo noted that the number of Indonesian citizens repatriated with Thailand’s support is approaching 1,000, describing it as a very meaningful assistance. In the meeting, Prabowo and PM Anutin also agreed to strengthen political and security cooperation, particularly in addressing various forms of transnational crime. This cooperation includes tackling online scams, which are a form of transnational crime of concern to both nations. “We also support the development of a Transnational Referral Mechanism as a breakthrough to accelerate the identification, protection, and repatriation of victims of transnational crime in a safe and dignified manner,” Prabowo said.
