Prabowo Appreciates Pramono Anung as a Great Governor
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has expressed his appreciation for Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, describing him as a great governor despite originating from a different political party.
“I must admit that there is a great governor; I admit he is great,” said Prabowo during the inauguration of the Jakarta LRT Kelapa Gading-Manggarai route at Manggarai LRT Station on Wednesday.
Prabowo made these remarks while offering congratulations to Pramono and Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno for the development of public transportation in Jakarta.
The President stated that differences in political backgrounds do not prevent him from appreciating regional heads who demonstrate good performance.
“Even though he is not from my party. But this should encourage other parties, right? So, do the work properly,” he said.
According to Prablant, the cooperation between the central government and the Jakarta Provincial Government demonstrates that governance can continue effectively even when leaders belong to different political parties.
He noted that although he and Pramono come from different parties and were once competitors in the general election, both can work together because they hold mandates from the people.
“We come from different parties. We competed in the general election. But we can work together. We can respect each other,” said Prabowo.
The President emphasised that the mandate obtained through general elections must be used to serve the community.
“We are servants of the people. We serve the people. Our thoughts, our energy, and our efforts are all for the people of Indonesia,” he said.
Prabowo also touched upon Pramono’s report regarding Jakarta’s economic development, including economic growth and investment.
“It was reported by the Governor that Jakarta’s growth is increasing. Companies that were somewhat sluggish are now recovering. Investment has risen remarkably,” he said.
Prabowo assessed that cooperation and ‘gotong royong’ (mutual cooperation) among leaders are necessary to drive the development and progress of Indonesia.
“If leaders can cooperate, can practice mutual cooperation, and must practice mutual cooperation, this nation will rise to become an extraordinary nation,” he concluded.
