Prabowo Appreciates PM Wong's Commitment to Nurturing Friendship with Indonesia

President Prabowo Subianto has expressed appreciation for Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and his delegation’s commitment to continuously nurturing friendship, cooperation, and collaboration with Indonesia across various fields. “I once again thank Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and the entire delegation for their commitment to continue nurturing friendship, cooperation, and collaboration with Indonesia,” Prabowo said in a joint statement at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday. Prabowo stated that the Indonesia-Singapore Leaders’ Retreat reflects the maturity of the relationship and the increasingly strong level of trust between the two countries. According to him, the meeting also affirmed the commitment to strengthen the strategic partnership through broader and more concrete cooperation. “We agreed that our interests must be safeguarded together and we must continue to cooperate for the benefit of both parties,” he said. Prabowo noted that the discussion with Lawrence Wong was intensive and forward-looking. Both countries also committed to resolving any differences through open communication as friends. “We have just held an intensive and very productive meeting, heart-to-heart, open, and forward-looking. We agreed that if there are any misunderstandings or misperceptions, we will resolve them openly as friends,” he said. Prabowo added that the two countries agreed to expand collaboration in the digital economy, cybersecurity, food security, supply chains, and the implementation of the defence cooperation agreement. “In the fields of energy, digital economy, the digital ecosystem, cybersecurity, we have held discussions and achieved quite concrete results. We also agreed to continue collaboration in food security and supply chains. In the field of defence and security, we will also implement our defence cooperation agreement,” Prabowo said. Prabowo added that the partnership between Indonesia and Singapore is built not only through government-to-government relations but also through people-to-people ties. Therefore, strengthening connectivity, tourism, education, and cooperation among the younger generation is a crucial part of deepening the relationship between the two countries. “A strong partnership is built on the foundation of trust, not only between governments but also between the people of both countries. Therefore, connectivity, tourism, education, and cooperation among the youth are very important,” Prabowo said.
