Prabowo Appreciates Nuzulul Qur'an Commemoration at Palace with Quraish and Young Qur'an Reciter
Jakarta (ANTARA) — President Prabowo Subianto expressed appreciation for the Nuzulul Qur’an commemoration held at the State Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday evening, which showcased Islamic scholar Prof. Muhammad Quraish Shihab and young Qur’an reciter Muhammad Zian Fahrezi as featured speakers.
Religion Minister Nasaruddin Umar conveyed the President’s sentiments at a press conference following the event. “Alhamdulillah, the event was very moving and the President greatly appreciated the importance of tonight’s occasion,” said Nasaruddin.
The President was particularly impressed by Prof. Quraish Shihab, founder of the Al-Qur’an Study Centre, whose sermon addressed the fundamental meaning of peace and how differences do not necessarily lead to division.
Prabowo was also captivated by the performance of young reciter Muhammad Zian Fahrezi, who recited verses from the Holy Qur’an. “Besides Prof. Quraish Shihab’s most satisfactory sermon, the young reciter was also outstanding — a child who won first place at the international level in Iran. The President found the lecture very impressive,” Nasaruddin noted.
Fahrezi, aged 11, won first place in the Qur’an Recitation category at the 3rd International Al-Ameed Qur’an Recitation Competition in Karbala. During the State Palace commemoration, he recited Qur’anic verses from Surat Al-Hashr, verses 21 to 24, before President Prabowo and hundreds of invited guests.
“I also wish to express my gratitude to young Muhammad Zian Fahrezi, age 11, who won first place in the MTQ competition in Iran in 2026,” President Prabowo said in his remarks.
