President Prabowo Subianto has expressed appreciation for the research and innovation results developed by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), ranging from waste management innovations to the development of environmentally friendly materials. The appreciation was conveyed by the President during a meeting with BRIN researchers in the central courtyard of the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday. “Alhamdulillah, the President was very pleased and thanked BRIN for producing various innovative breakthroughs to solve various problems,” said BRIN Head Arif Satria in a statement to the media after the meeting. “The President is very concerned about the importance of healthy cities, healthy villages, clean villages, and clean cities. Because this is very important to support tourism,” he said. In addition to waste management, the President also paid attention to BRIN’s research results in the field of construction materials. He said Prabowo had previously directed BRIN to develop environmentally friendly roof tiles using local raw materials. “We are collaborating with the Indonesian Army to conduct trials on the use of these tiles. And we also have various types of earthquake-resistant houses that can be built in 14 days, and within 30 days can be ready for occupancy,” he said. Furthermore, Arif also conveyed the President’s interest in shoe innovation made from palm oil waste developed by BRIN. “So the President earlier said that this shoe industry is a people’s industry that must also be developed,” he said.
