Prabowo Appoints Sudaryono as Head of National Nutrition Agency, Nanik Focuses on Medical Treatment

President Prabowo Subianto moved quickly to fill the position of Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) left vacant by Nanik S Deyang. Prabowo appointed Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono as the replacement to prevent a leadership vacuum at the BGN. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi announced the decision at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/7/2026). Prasetyo stated that Sudaryono would be inaugurated that afternoon to ensure the tasks and functions of the BGN continue without interruption. The leadership change occurred after Nanik S Deyang resigned, deciding to step down to focus on undergoing heart treatment overseas. Nanik explained on her Facebook page that she had bid farewell to the President to seek a second opinion abroad, departing on Wednesday (22/7). She clarified this was not due to a lack of trust in Indonesia’s excellent doctors but for a second opinion recommended by a friend. Nanik said she conveyed her resignation to Prabowo, who accepted it with concern for her health. The President requested she remain involved in overseeing the BGN, likely by appointing her as chair of a supervisory board that will be formed.
