Prabowo Appoints Sudaryono as Head of National Nutrition Agency

President Prabowo Subianto has appointed Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono as the new Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). Sudaryono replaces Nanik S Deyang, who resigned for health reasons.

“The President has decided that the replacement for the Head of BGN is Sudaryono, who currently serves as Deputy Minister of Agriculture,” said Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/7/2026).

Pras stated that the inauguration is scheduled for this afternoon. The immediate appointment is intended to prevent a leadership vacuum in continuing the agency’s duties. “The replacement is planned to be inaugurated today so that the processes and tasks carried out by BGN do not experience a vacuum,” Pras said.

Nanik S Deyang had previously resigned as Head of BGN. Nanik wishes to focus on undergoing heart treatment. “With a heavy heart, I bid farewell to the President to seek medical treatment abroad for my heart. I plan to depart today, Wednesday (22/7),” Nanik said on her Facebook page.

“This is not because I do not trust the excellent doctors in Indonesia, but to seek a second opinion, and coincidentally a friend recommended the place I am heading to,” she continued.

Nanik apologised to Prabowo for stepping down as Head of BGN due to health reasons. Nanik revealed that Prabowo will form a BGN Supervisory Board and has asked her to become its chair. “I told the President with a thousand apologies that I felt I had to resign as Head of BGN for the sake of my health, and because the President was concerned and felt sorry for me, he agreed, but asked me to continue overseeing BGN. The President will likely form a supervisory board and has asked me to be its chair,” Nanik said.
