Prabowo Appoints Hendarsam Marantoko as Director General of Immigration

JAKARTA — President Prabowo Subianto has appointed lawyer and Gerindra Party politician Hendarsam Marantoko as Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Immigration and Repatriation (Imipas).

“Yes,” confirmed Deputy Minister of Immigration Silmy Karim to Kompas.com on Friday (13 March 2026).

The open recruitment process for the Senior Executive Position (JPT) for the Director General of Immigration post has been suspended following the issuance of the presidential decree.

“It has been stopped,” said Silmy, who also chairs the open selection panel for the position.

“That is correct. The plan is to inaugurate him in early April,” said Akbar Hadi.

The position of Director General of Immigration is currently held by Acting Director Yuldi Yusman.

The Ministry of Immigration and Repatriation had launched an open selection process to fill the Director General of Immigration position, with Yuldi Yusman as one of the candidates.

According to ANTARA on 2 October 2025, three names emerged in the open recruitment for the Senior Executive Position: Yuldi Yusman, Ibnu Ismoyo, and Ahmad Purbaja.

“These three selected individuals were participants with the highest cumulative scores assessed at each stage of the selection process. They were indeed the best candidates to progress,” said Silmy Karim, a former Director General of Immigration.

At that time, the selection results were planned to be submitted to President Prabowo Subianto.

However, Prabowo has now selected Hendarsam Marantoko to fill the position of Director General of Immigration.
