Prabowo Applauds Indonesian Firms for Successful Overseas Marketing of Products
Jakarta (ANTARA) — President Prabowo Subianto has praised a number of Indonesian companies for successfully marketing their products overseas, while urging the national private sector to continue developing and to excel in global competition.
“We must also recognise the achievements; many of our companies can compete at the global level,” Prabowo said in a speech delivering the Macro Economic Framework and Key Policy Points (KEM-PPKF) for the 2027 RAPBN at the DPR RI Plenary Session in the Nusantara Building, Jakarta, on Wednesday.
Prabowo noted that national companies such as Indofood can market products to a variety of countries. He cited Indomie as a product in high demand in Europe and even regarded as a local product in several African countries.
The President also mentioned Mayora’s success in marketing Kopiko to more than 100 countries. He also referred to the Es Teler 77 restaurant brand as another national company that has expanded overseas.
Prabowo said the government wants to grow a larger private sector role in the national economy. He believes Indonesia needs a dynamic private sector with entrepreneurs who have innovation, initiative, managerial ability, and willingness to take risks.
“We need the private sector; we need to support the private sector’s role. We need a dynamic private sector. We need entrepreneurs full of innovation, full of initiative, with good and reliable managerial abilities,” he said.
The Head of State said the Indonesian economy should be built through the concept of Indonesia Incorporated or an economy based on the spirit of kinship and mutual cooperation.
He noted that those who are strong should help the weak, while the weaker groups can unite through joint ventures such as cooperatives.
Prabowo stated that the economic system suitable for Indonesia is a middle-ground economy that takes the best from socialism and capitalism.
“Indeed, what we mean is that the economy suitable for Indonesia is a middle-ground economy. An economy that dares to take the best from socialism and the best from capitalism. We need the state’s role, we need state protection, we need oversight and we need the state’s backing to ensure justice and equity,” he said.
Prabowo also said the government wants to foster the emergence of new entrepreneurs among the youth through entrepreneurship education.
The President said the government does not want all young people to be civil servants, but rather to venture into the business world and compete with other entrepreneurs.
The government is also preparing support in the form of startup credit for young people after completing entrepreneurship education.
Prabowo said such support is necessary so that young people have the opportunity to grow into strong entrepreneurs and to produce new businesspeople.
“Economic democracy means not sticking to the same old ways,” the President said.
