Prabowo Announces Over 9,000 Kopdes Merah Putih Buildings Ready: A National Achievement

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto revealed that more than 9,000 Kopdes Merah Putih (Red and White Village Cooperative) buildings are physically ready, in less than a year since the concept of the program was initiated.

Prabowo explained that the physical construction of the cooperatives began around November 2024.

Within seven months, the government has successfully operationalised more than 1,000 village cooperatives.

“The physical construction began in approximately November 2024 and has continued until now, which is less than 6 months. November, December, January, February, March, April, May. Seven months. In seven months, we have managed to operationalise 1,061 cooperatives,” said Prabowo during the inauguration of the operationalisation of 1,061 Kopdes Merah Putih in Nganjuk, East Java, on Saturday (16 May 2026).

“But earlier, the Coordinating Minister for Food reported that more than 9,000 buildings are physically ready. 9,000 buildings, 9,000 warehouses, 9,000 systems, ladies and gentlemen,” Prabowo continued.

“I think this is an achievement for the Indonesian nation,” he added.

Prabowo believes that the inauguration of the operationalisation of 1,061 Kopdes Merah Putih on Saturday is an important and historic moment.

According to him, it is rare for a country to be able to inaugurate the operationalisation of more than a thousand cooperatives at once with complete facilities.

“I think if you look at other countries, especially in the history of our nation, if we look for a country, a government that has inaugurated the operationalisation of more than 1,000 cooperatives,” he said.

Prabowo emphasised that the inaugurated cooperatives are not only administratively established but also have complete operational facilities.

“Yes, physically the buildings are there, the warehouses are there, the systems are there, the goods are there, the staff are there, the logistical elements are there. There are trucks, there are pick-ups, there are three-wheeled vehicles. I think today is quite important,” said Prabowo.

Before the inauguration, Prabowo first inspected a Kopdes Merah Putih outlet in Nganjuk Village, East Java.
