Prabowo Announces Indonesia Will Soon Have a National Electric Motorcycle
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto revealed that Indonesia will soon have a national electric motorcycle as part of efforts to strengthen the domestic automotive industry while encouraging the use of environmentally friendly vehicles.
In a speech at the Grand Harvest ceremony of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) in support of the Food Security Programme at Abdulrachman Saleh Air Force Base, Malang Regency, East Java, on Friday, President Prabowo said the launch of the national electric motorcycle would take place in the coming weeks.
“Very soon we will have a national motorcycle. I will launch the national electric motorcycle in the next few weeks,” Prabowo said, as monitored via the Presidential Secretariat broadcast in Jakarta on Friday.
President Prabowo hopes the national electric motorcycle can be widely used by the public, including farmers, as a more efficient and affordable means of transport.
Furthermore, President Prabowo said the government is also targeting Indonesia’s ability to produce a national car created by the nation’s own people, as part of strengthening domestic manufacturing capacity.
“We will have a motorcycle made by Indonesia’s own children. We will have a car made by Indonesia’s own children,” he affirmed.
According to President Prabowo, the development of national vehicles forms part of the government’s optimism in realising Indonesia as an advanced and prosperous nation through improving national industrial capability.
He further emphasised that Indonesia has the resources and capability to build a competitive industry capable of producing strategic domestically made products.
“We are optimistic. We set our aspirations as high as the sky. Indonesia will become a prosperous nation,” President Prabowo concluded.
