Prabowo Announces Indonesia Will Soon Have a National Electric Motorcycle
Malang, VIVA – President Prabowo Subianto has revealed that Indonesia will soon have a national electric motorcycle, as part of efforts to strengthen the domestic automotive industry whilst encouraging the use of environmentally friendly vehicles.
In a speech at the TNI Grand Harvest in Support of the Food Security Programme at Abdulrachman Saleh Air Base, Malang Regency, East Java, on Friday, President Prabowo said the national electric motorcycle would be launched in the coming weeks.
“Soon we will have our own national motorcycle. I will be launching the national electric motorcycle within a few weeks,” Prabowo said, as monitored via the Presidential Secretariat broadcast in Jakarta on Friday.
President Prabowo expressed hope that the national electric motorcycle would be widely used by the public, including farmers, as a more efficient and affordable means of transport.
Furthermore, President Prabowo said the government is also targeting Indonesia’s ability to produce a national car created by the nation’s own people, as part of strengthening domestic manufacturing capacity.
“We will have motorcycles made by Indonesia’s own children. We will have cars made by Indonesia’s own children,” he affirmed.
According to President Prabowo, the development of national vehicles forms part of the government’s optimism in realising Indonesia as an advanced and prosperous nation through enhancing the capabilities of the national industry.
He further emphasised that Indonesia possesses the resources and capability to build a competitive industry capable of producing strategic domestically made products.
“We are optimistic. Let us set our aspirations as high as the sky. Indonesia will become a prosperous nation,” Prabowo concluded. (Ant)
