Prabowo Announces Indonesia Will Soon Have a National Electric Motorcycle
President Prabowo Subianto has revealed that Indonesia will soon have a national electric motorcycle as part of efforts to strengthen the domestic automotive industry and encourage the use of environmentally friendly vehicles. Speaking at the TNI Harvest Event in support of the Food Security Programme at Lanud Abdulrachman Saleh, Malang Regency, East Java, on Friday, Prabowo stated that the launch of the national electric motorcycle would take place within the next few weeks. “Soon we will have a national motorcycle. I will launch the national electric motorcycle in a few weeks,” Prabowo said, as monitored via the Presidential Secretariat broadcast in Jakarta on Friday. President Prabowo expressed hope that the presence of the national electric motorcycle could be widely utilised by the public, including farmers, as a more efficient and affordable means of transportation. Furthermore, President Prabowo mentioned that the government is also targeting Indonesia’s ability to produce a national car, the work of the nation’s own people, as part of strengthening domestic manufacturing industrial capacity. “We will have motorcycles made by Indonesian children. We will have cars made by Indonesian children,” he asserted. According to President Prabowo, the development of national vehicles is part of the government’s optimism in realising Indonesia as a developed and prosperous country through enhancing national industrial capabilities. He further emphasised that Indonesia possesses the resources and ability to build a competitive industry capable of producing strategic domestically made products. “We are optimistic. We have the resources, we have the ability, we have the strength. We set our aspirations as high as the sky. Indonesia will become a prosperous country,” concluded Prabowo.
