Prabowo announces formation of PHK Mitigation Task Force to protect workers
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has announced the formation of a Task Force (Satgas) for Mitigating Layoffs (PHK) and Worker Welfare as part of the government’s policy to protect workers.
“I have issued Presidential Decree No. 10 of 2026 on the establishment of the Task Force for Mitigating Layoffs and Worker Welfare,” Prabowo stated during the International Labour Day commemoration held at the National Monument Field (Monas) in Jakarta on Friday.
Prabowo assured that the government will side with workers, particularly those threatened with job loss amid uncertain global economic conditions.
“Do not worry, we will defend the interests of workers. Those at risk of PHK, we will defend and protect,” the President said.
He conveyed that the formation of the task force will be realised quickly as part of the government’s efforts to protect the public.
Furthermore, Prabowo expressed the state’s readiness to take firm steps if there are companies unable to survive.
“If there are entrepreneurs who give up, do not worry, our state is strong. The state will take over and defend the Indonesian people,” the President said.
On the same occasion, Prabowo also touched on the global situation facing a crisis but assessed that Indonesia remains in a relatively safe position.
In addition, he expressed optimism that Indonesia will soon achieve energy independence, including readiness to ensure self-sufficiency in fuel oil (BBM) and energy.
Closing his statement, Prabowo gave encouragement to the workers to continue working and struggling.
“Happy struggles, happy working. Long live the workers, long live the people,” Prabowo concluded.
