Prabowo and TNI Leadership Discuss Dayak Recruitment and Disaster Response

President Prabowo Subianto held a meeting with TNI Commander General Agus Subianto and the service chiefs at Hambalang, West Java, on Saturday, 29 August 2026. The meeting lasted from the afternoon into the evening.

The meeting addressed a number of issues, ranging from adjustments to recruitment requirements for interior Dayak communities who wish to become TNI soldiers to developments in the handling of several disasters in Indonesia.

Prabowo was accompanied by a number of ministers and government officials, including Minister of Defence Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Brian Yuliarto, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

The meeting was shared by Teddy via the Cabinet Secretariat’s Instagram account. In his post, Teddy explained several agenda items that were of concern to President Prabowo in the meeting with the TNI leadership.

One of the topics discussed in the meeting concerned interior Dayak communities who wish to join and become TNI soldiers. Teddy said President Prabowo requested an update on the adjustment of recruitment requirements for interior Dayak communities who have the desire to become TNI soldiers.

The discussion on the adjustment of requirements was one of the agenda items raised in the meeting with the TNI Commander and the service chiefs.

“In the meeting, President Prabowo requested updates on several matters, including the adjustment of requirements related to the recruitment of interior Dayak communities who wish to become TNI soldiers,” Teddy said.

This discussion was part of a number of issues for which Prabowo requested updates from the relevant ranks.

In addition to the issue of recruiting soldiers from interior Dayak communities, the meeting also discussed the handling of several disasters that have occurred in Indonesia. Prabowo requested updates on post-disaster handling, including conditions following the earthquake in Flores and the eruption of Mount Merapi.

According to Teddy, developments in disaster handling were also a focus of the President’s meeting with the TNI leadership.

“In the meeting, President Prabowo requested updates on several matters, including the adjustment of requirements related to the recruitment of interior Dayak communities who wish to become TNI soldiers, and the handling of several disasters, including the post-earthquake situation in Flores and the eruption of Mount Merapi,” Teddy said.
