Prabowo and Putin hold luncheon to discuss Indonesia-Russia partnership

President Prabowo Subianto attended a luncheon with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Vladivostok, Russia, on Thursday local time, to discuss the partnership between the two nations and the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

In an online broadcast followed from Jakarta on Thursday, President Prabowo expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality shown to him and expressed his pleasure in visiting Vladivostok.

“First, allow me to convey my congratulations on the commemoration of the National Day of the Russian Federation on 12 June 2026. Also, on the hosting of the 35th ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit on 18 June 2026. I sincerely apologise that I cannot attend these important events due to domestic matters that I cannot leave behind,” said President Prabowo.

During the occasion, the Head of State highlighted the close relationship between the two countries, which has spanned over 50 years, and emphasised that Russia remains an important partner for Indonesia.

“Therefore, we are proud and happy that our relationship was able to be elevated to a strategic partnership last year,” said Prabowo.

President Prabowo’s presence in Vladivostok is part of an effort to strengthen the growing relationship between Indonesia and Russia across various fields.

The President’s visit to Vladivostok also serves as a momentum to expand cooperation between Indonesia and Russia, particularly in the fields of economy, trade, investment, and other potential sectors.
