Prabowo and Putin Agree to Enhance Economic and Energy Cooperation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to enhance cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the fields of economy, energy, space, agriculture, industry, and pharmaceuticals. During the meeting between the two leaders in Moscow, Russia, on Monday, Indonesian President Prabowo conveyed his appreciation for the Russian Government’s support for Indonesia, from the swift acceptance into BRICS to the rapid increase in cooperation in various fields. “We view that Russia has played a very positive role in facing this geopolitically uncertain condition. Therefore, we feel it is very necessary to consult on how we face the future situation,” the President stated. On that occasion, the President mentioned that almost all fields agreed upon by the two countries have experienced rapid progress, although there are several fields that need to be accelerated. Regarding this, he said he would handle and oversee the issue himself, particularly related to the monetary relations between the two parties. On the same occasion, Russian President Vladimir Putin conveyed the increase in economic and trade cooperation, which rose by 12.5 percent last year. “We attach great importance to the joint intergovernmental commission and we hope that in today’s meeting, Your Excellency, we will manage to find and share solutions to continue enhancing the partnership between our two countries,” said Vladimir Putin. In particular, Vladimir Putin highlighted key sectors for cooperation between the two countries, including energy, space, agriculture, industry, and pharmaceuticals. He also highlighted that Indonesia’s membership in BRICS opens new opportunities to develop cooperation between the two countries.
