Prabowo and Putin Agree on Economic and Digital Technology Cooperation

President Prabowo Subianto convened Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Investment and Chief Executive Officer of Danantara Rosan Roeslani, and their respective officials in Hambalang on Friday (4/9/202<0xA0>26).

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the meeting focused on the progress of instructions regarding the restructuring and streamlining of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs).

“The President emphasised that the restructuring of SOEs must be carried out in a measurable and comprehensive manner to create a state-owned enterprise structure that is more efficient, healthy, professional, and capable of providing an optimal contribution to the national economy,” Teddy said on Saturday (5/9/2026).

According to data cited by Teddy, 290 SOEs have already been closed, a move that has reportedly resulted in state budget savings of up to Rp50 trillion. The streamlining process is set to continue, with a target of closing at least another 700 SOEs by the end of December 2026. It is projected that this SOE restructuring could generate budget efficiencies of up to Rp100 trillion.

Prabowo, according to Teddy, reiterated that the restructuring of SOEs must be conducted thoroughly to ensure maximum contribution to the national economy.

In addition to receiving reports on SOEs, Teddy revealed that the meeting also addressed increasing the added value of domestic natural resources. “The acceleration of downstreaming is a strategic step to increase the added value of natural resources within the country, strengthen investment, and create greater economic benefits for Indonesia,” he concluded.

This meeting took place following President Prabowo’s bilateral agenda and participation in the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Vladivostok, Russia, on Thursday (3/9/2026). During that meeting, the areas of cooperation attracting the attention of both nations included agriculture, shipbuilding, digital technology, and energy.
