Prabowo and PM Modi Witness Brahmos Missile Procurement Contract
President Prabowo Subianto and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi witnessed the signing of a contract for the procurement of Brahmos missiles at Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (7/7/2026). The contract was signed between Brahmos Aerospace and Indonesia’s Ministry of Defence. In addition, a defence cooperation agreement for the production of air-to-air missiles was signed between Bharat Dynamics Limited and Republikorp. President Prabowo explained that both parties agreed to further strengthen the partnership by increasing the intensity of high-level visits. ‘Closer coordination through bilateral consultations and strengthening inter-agency cooperation, including think tanks and the newly formed parliamentary friendship group,’ Prabowo said. Meanwhile, PM Modi explained that space cooperation between India and Indonesia would bring great benefits to both countries. ‘We will also cooperate to improve technology and capacity,’ Modi said. He also conveyed that India and Indonesia are establishing new partnerships regarding steel and rare earths. ‘We are also very pleased that India’s payment system will be implemented in Indonesia. This will further facilitate payments,’ Modi stated.
