Prabowo and PM Modi Survey Prambanan Temple from Super Puma Helicopter

President Prabowo Subianto and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a special visit to Prambanan Temple in Yogyakarta on Wednesday. The two leaders surveyed the grandeur of the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia from the air using a presidential Super Puma helicopter. The entourage departed from Yogyakarta International Airport in Kulon Progo with a total of four helicopters. Before landing at Adisucipto Air Force Base, the helicopter carrying the two leaders circled the Prambanan Temple complex twice to provide a comprehensive aerial view. Upon arrival at the site by road, President Prabowo, riding in the presidential Maung Garuda vehicle, greeted the public from the car’s roof. Their arrival at the temple complex around midday was welcomed by Minister of Culture Fadli Zon and a performance of the Rama Shinta dance, an iconic epic shared by both nations. During the visit, Minister Fadli Zon presented various conservation programmes in the Prambanan area. A key point of discussion was a joint restoration plan involving the Indonesian and Indian governments as a means of strengthening cultural relations. President Prabowo and PM Modi then proceeded to inspect the core area of the temple using a buggy driven by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. PM Modi took a moment to greet Hindu worshippers before moving on to the planned restoration site. The visit to Yogyakarta is part of PM Narendra Modi’s state visit to Indonesia, which took place from 6 to 8 July 2026. Earlier, the two leaders held a bilateral meeting at the Merdeka Palace to discuss strengthening strategic cooperation between the two countries.
