President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto and Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi have affirmed both countries’ commitment to continuing support for peaceful conflict resolution in the Middle East. An approach prioritising dialogue, diplomacy, and international law is being championed. The two countries also agreed that the conflict in Palestine must be resolved through the Two-State Solution mechanism, as a foundation for sustainable peace in Palestine. “Both countries also continue to support dialogue and diplomacy as well as international law for the peaceful resolution of conflicts in the Middle East region,” Prabowo stated in a joint press statement following the bilateral meeting at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday. Beyond discussing Middle Eastern issues, President Prabowo and Prime Minister Modi also exchanged views on various regional and global issues. Both leaders affirmed their respective countries’ commitment to supporting world peace and stability. “PM Modi and I continue to support various efforts to advance world peace and stability and ensure the voices of the Global South are heard. In the Indo-Pacific region, Indonesia and India remain committed to producing a free, open, transparent, and international law-based Indo-Pacific region while upholding ASEAN centrality,” Prabowo explained. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed India’s support for a peaceful resolution for Palestine through the Two-State Solution. “And regarding the Palestine issue, we support the Two-State Solution and long-term sustainable peace,” Modi said. PM Modi also expressed optimism about the future of Indonesia-India relations, built upon the historical and cultural closeness of the two countries. “The benefits of a golden era lie before us together. Our history is rooted in the culture we share. Our presence, mutual trust, and our future will also be coloured by shared prosperity,” Modi stated.
