Prabowo and PM Modi Push for Middle East Conflict Resolution Through Dialogue
President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto and Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi have emphasised the commitment of both nations to continue supporting a peaceful resolution to the conflict in the Middle East. An approach based on dialogue, diplomacy, and international law was prioritised.
Both countries agreed that the conflict in Palestine must be resolved through the Two-State Solution mechanism. This mechanism serves as the foundation for sustainable peace in Palestine.
“Both countries also continue to support dialogue, diplomacy, and international law for the peaceful resolution of conflicts in the Middle East region,” said Prabowo in a joint statement following a bilateral meeting at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/7).
In addition to discussing Middle East issues, President Prabowo and Prime Minister Modi also exchanged views on various regional and global issues. Both reaffirmed their respective nations’ commitments to supporting world peace and stability.
“PM Modi and I continue to support various efforts to advance world peace and stability and to ensure that voices from the Global South are heard. In the Indo-Pacific region, Indonesia and India remain committed to producing an Indo-Pacific that is free, open, transparent, and based on international law, while upholding the centrality of ASEAN,” explained Prabowo.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed India’s support for a peaceful resolution for Palestine through the Two-State Solution.
“And regarding the Palestinian issue, we support the Two-State Solution and a sustainable, long-term peace,” said Modi.
PM Modi also expressed optimism regarding the future of Indonesia-India relations, which are built upon the historical and cultural proximity of both nations.
“The benefits of a golden era lie ahead of us. Our history is rooted in the shared culture we possess. Our presence, as well as our mutual trust and our future, will also be characterised by shared prosperity,” said Modi.
