Prabowo and Modi View Prambanan Temple from Helicopter
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subante and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi boarded the Super Puma presidential helicopter from Yogyakarta International Airport in Kulon Progo Regency on Wednesday morning to view the Prambanan Temple from an aerial perspective.
A total of four helicopters, including the presidential aircraft, departed from Yogyakarta International Airport, circled the Prambanan Temple complex twice, and subsequently landed at Adisucipto Air Force Base (Lanud Adisucipto).
At Adisucipto Air Force Base, President Prabowo and PM Modi continued their journey by land towards the Prambanan Temple.
The roads within the Prambanan Temple complex were decorated with yellow coconut leaves (janur), and lines of children waved small flags as the presidential motorcade passed by. President Prabowo also took the opportunity to step out from the roof of the Maung Garuda presidential vehicle to greet the public.
After a short journey from Adisucipto Air Force Base, President Prabowo and PM Modi arrived at Prambanan Temple at approximately 12:00 WIB, where they were welcomed by the Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon.
The Rama Shinta dance, derived from the Ramayana epic and widely recognised in both Indian and Indonesian cultures, greeted the arrival of PM Modi and President Prabowo at the temple. Both leaders watched a brief performance of the dance before posing for photographs together against the backdrop of the Prambanan Temple.
Subsequently, President Prabowo and PM Modi boarded a buggy driven by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya to reach the core area of the Prambanan Temple. In that area, President Prabowo and PM Modi met with several Hindu worshippers praying at the temple.
PM Modi took a moment to greet the worshippers before proceeding with President Prabowo to visit a restoration site. The visit by President Prabowo and PM Modi to Prambanan Temple is part of a series of state visits by PM Modi to Indonesia between 6–8 July 2026. PM Modi had previously visited the Merdeka Palace and, alongside President Prabowo, led bilateral meetings between the delegations of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of India.
