President Prabowo Subianto has expressed Indonesia and India’s strong commitment to strengthening cooperation in maintaining peace, stability, and order in the Indo-Pacific region, grounded in international law. This strategic commitment was a key outcome of a bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

During a joint press conference, President Prabowo stated that the discussions with PM Modi covered a wide range of regional and global dynamics of mutual concern. He stressed that both nations share a vision for resolving global conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy. "PM Modi and I exchanged views on various regional and global issues. We continue to support all efforts to advance world peace and stability, and to ensure the voices of the Global South are heard," Prabowo said.

At the regional level, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to an Indo-Pacific that is free, open, transparent, and based on international law, with ASEAN centrality as a fundamental pillar. Prabowo expressed confidence that PM Modi’s state visit would deepen bilateral relations, not only at the government level but also through enhanced people-to-people contact.

The meeting also saw agreements to bolster strategic partnerships in the economy, security, technology, and education. Prabowo highlighted the significance of the collaboration between the world’s two largest democracies, noting that India is currently Indonesia’s sixth-largest global trade partner and its largest within ASEAN. Discussions also included concrete Indian investment in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, specifically a hospital construction project.
