Prabowo and Megawati Hold Hands at Pancasila Day Ceremony

President Prabowo Subianto and former fifth President Megawati Soekarnoputri displayed camaraderie during the Pancasila Day ceremony at Gedung Pancasila in Jakarta on Monday. After the ceremony, Prabowo and Megawati were seen leaving the venue with smiles while holding hands, as observed in the live broadcast. Prior to the event, Prabowo entered the ceremony area alongside Megawati, who serves as Chairman of the Pancasila Ideology Development Body (BPIP). Also in attendance was Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Prabowo conversed with several national figures, including former Vice President Jusuf Kalla (10th and 12th terms) and former Vice President Ma’ruf Amin (13th term). Also present were State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. Prabowo and Megawati previously ran as presidential and vice-presidential candidates in the 2009 election. Separately, Prabowo recounted Megawati’s support when he was not in government. During a DPR RI plenary session in Jakarta on 20 May 2026, Prabowo stated that Megawati had instructed her team not to obstruct his participation in government tenders. On the same occasion, Prabowo expressed appreciation for PDI-P, which is currently outside the government. He noted that the opposition’s role is crucial in maintaining oversight and balance in governance.
