Prabowo and Megawati Hold Hands After Pancasila Day Ceremony

President Prabowo Subianto and former President Megawati Soekarnoputri displayed camaraderie during the Pancasila Day ceremony at the Pancasila Building, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta on Monday, 1 June 2026. After the ceremony, they left the venue smiling and holding hands. Prior to the event, Prabowo was seen entering the ceremony area alongside Megawati, who serves as Chair of the BPIP Steering Council. Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka also attended the Pancasila Day commemoration. During the occasion, Prabowo conversed with several national figures, including former Vice Presidents Jusuf Kalla (10th and 12th) and Ma’ruf Amin (13th), with Minister of the State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya present. Prabowo arrived at the ceremony at 09:35 WIB wearing a dark blue suit paired with a songkok and matching tie. He served as the ceremony’s inspecting officer, with Colonel Didin Nasruddin Darsono as the parade commander. The Pancasila Day commemoration on 1 June commemorates President Sukarno’s speech at the BPUPKI session on 1 June 1945, which introduced the foundational principles of the nation. The event was also attended by members of the Red and White Cabinet, including Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, and Coordinating Minister for Law and Human Rights Imipas Yusril Ihza Mahendra.
