JAKARTA — PDI-P feels honoured by President Prabowo Subianto’s warm reception of former President Megawati Soekarnoputri during the Pancasila Birth Anniversary commemoration on Monday, 1 June 2026.
According to PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto, Prabowo’s warmth towards Megawati reflects the spirit of mutual assistance and national brotherhood needed to face various challenges.
“PDI-P feels honoured and expresses its appreciation for President Prabowo Subianto’s warm reception of Mother Megawati Soekarnoputri during the Pancasila Birth Anniversary commemoration,” Hasto told journalists.
Hasto said the relationship between Megawati and Prabowo has been good, grounded in a commitment to maintain national unity. Their relationship is also based on the spirit of strengthening Pancasila ideology as the foundation of national life and statehood.
“And Mother Megawati and President Prabowo both show mutual respect as national figures with historical responsibility for Indonesia’s future,” Hasto said.
Hasto further stated that the spirit of Pancasila’s Birth Anniversary should provide momentum to strengthen national brotherhood across all sectors of society and prioritise people’s interests over short-term political gains.
Therefore, the good relationship between Prabowo and Megawati should be viewed as positive energy for the nation to tackle future challenges.
“Pancasila teaches us to build unity in diversity. It is in this spirit that the good relationship between President Prabowo and Mother Megawati should be interpreted as positive energy for the nation to face future challenges,” Hasto concluded.
