Prabowo and MBZ Break Fast Together and Pray in Congregation at Qasr Al Bahr
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, held a bilateral meeting with the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ), at Qasr Al Bahr, Abu Dhabi, on Thursday (26/2/2026).
The meeting was held to strengthen the strategic partnership between Indonesia and the UAE, which has been rapidly developing in recent years.
According to the Presidential Secretariat, Prabowo was immediately greeted by MBZ upon arrival at Qasr Al Bahr, or the “Maritime Palace”.
During this meeting, the delegations of both countries sat facing each other in a circular formation, creating an atmosphere of equal, open, and respectful dialogue.
The series of meetings continued with an iftar, or joint breaking of the fast, between the two countries.
The joint iftar was held in a solemn and harmonious atmosphere.
This Ramadan moment further strengthened the spirit of brotherhood between the two leaders.
In this meeting, Prabowo was accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Indonesian Ambassador to the UAE Judha Nugraha, and President Director of PT. Pindad (Persero) Sigit P. Santosa.
Meanwhile, President MBZ was accompanied by Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court Hamdan bin Mohamed Al Nahyan, Advisor to the Presidential Court Mohamed bin Hamad Al Nahyan, Advisor for Strategic Affairs Ahmed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Al Mazrouei, and UAE Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulla Salem Obaid Salem Al Dhaheri.
At the same time, they also discussed an expanded meeting to discuss a number of strategic agendas, ranging from strengthening energy cooperation, investment, to future economic partnerships.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to deepen mutually beneficial and long-term oriented collaboration.
At the end of the event, Prabowo and MBZ held a tête-à-tête in an open and constructive atmosphere.
The conversation between the two leaders reflected personal closeness as well as a strong determination to continue strengthening the close bilateral relationship that has been established.
The meeting is considered to have special significance because 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and the UAE.
