Prabowo and Macron Strengthen Economic Cooperation Through High-Level Business Forum
President Prabowo Subianto welcomed the establishment of the France-Indonesia High Level Business Council as a strategic step to strengthen economic ties, investment, and business cooperation between Indonesia and France. The statement was made following a bilateral meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris on Wednesday (28 May).
During the meeting, Prabowo praised Macron’s support in accelerating various forms of bilateral cooperation, including increased investment and private sector engagement. He stated that the high-level business forum represents a key opportunity to enhance French companies’ participation in Indonesia’s economic development.
Prabowo noted Indonesia’s positive reception of French companies’ ongoing contributions to the national economy, adding that the forum would unlock broader and concrete collaboration opportunities across strategic sectors.
He also emphasised the importance of strengthening international partnerships amid increasingly complex and interconnected global dynamics.
Prabowo welcomed the establishment of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Indonesia and France, expressing hope it would yield balanced and tangible cooperation for both nations.
The bilateral talks also addressed other strategic issues, including defence cooperation, clean energy, education, research, and the implementation of the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA).
