Prabowo and Macron Meeting in Paris Discusses Strengthening Defence Equipment Cooperation

President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto continued his visit by meeting French President Emmanuel Macron. The meeting discussed strengthening cooperation in various sectors, from defence equipment procurement to energy transition.

“In the meeting, the two national leaders discussed strengthening cooperation in various sectors, including defence equipment procurement and strengthening the defence industry, energy transition and the development of new renewable energy, infrastructure and transportation, as well as education and the creative economy,” stated the caption on the President of the Republic of Indonesia’s account, viewed on Wednesday (15/4/2026).

France is said to be one of Indonesia’s important partners in the European region. Indonesia is committed to continuing to promote more concrete and mutually beneficial sustainable cooperation between the two countries.

“As one of the important partners in the European region, Indonesia continues to promote sustainable cooperation with France to open up new collaboration opportunities that are increasingly concrete and mutually beneficial for both countries,” he said.

It is known that the meeting between Prabowo and Macron took place at the Élysée Palace, Paris, on Tuesday (14/4) local time. Prabowo was officially welcomed by Macron along with an honour guard. The French Guard of Honour gave a military salute to Prabowo.

The two leaders appeared to shake hands and have a brief conversation before proceeding to the main agenda. Prabowo and Macron then proceeded to the Les Salon des Portraits room to conduct a one-on-one meeting.

The agenda continued with an official lunch reception, which is part of high-level diplomacy to strengthen personal relations between leaders.
