Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, during a meeting with King Abdullah II at the Basman Palace in Amman, Jordan, on Wednesday, stated Indonesia’s commitment to working with Jordan in realising peace in Palestine.

In his statement, President Prabowo mentioned that the only path to lasting peace in the Middle East is a two-state solution with an independent and sovereign Palestine.

“We hope to establish close coordination and cooperation, as Jordan is the party closest to the Gaza issue,” said Prabowo.

Before King Abdullah II, President Prabowo conveyed that Indonesia is ready to make every effort to encourage the achievement of this permanent solution.

The Indonesian support for peace initiatives, including involvement in the Board of Peace and support for the 20-point plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, was described as merely part of the effort to achieve sustainable peace.

Prabowo said that Indonesia and Jordan are on the same platform in promoting regional stability.

Therefore, Prabowo expressed hope that cooperation between the two countries would be further strengthened, including through intensive communication between teams so that every development of the situation can be closely monitored.

“We hope that this close cooperation will strengthen our common position, because I think we are on the same platform as Jordan and other countries in the region,” he said.

President Prabowo stated that Indonesia wants to know precisely the developments that will occur in the future.

Prabowo reiterated his gratitude and reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to supporting Jordan in various efforts being undertaken.

Prabowo arrived at the Basman Palace, Amman and was greeted directly by King Abdullah II.

The visit began with a state ceremony, a photo session and a troop inspection, before the two leaders held a bilateral meeting followed by a bilateral meeting between the Indonesian Government delegation and the Jordanian Government.

The officials present from the Indonesian side included Foreign Minister Sugiono, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia.
