Prabowo and Gibran's Sacrificial Cows at Istiqlal Draw Crowds; 1.3-Tonne Cow

The sight of two massive sacrificial cattle belonging to President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka drew the attention of worshippers at Istiqlal Mosque in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. Following Eid al-Adha prayers, crowds gathered around the cattle pens to view the animals donated by the President and Vice President. Prabowo’s Simmental breed cow weighed approximately 1.3 tonnes and was named Loreng, featuring a white marking on its head. Gibran’s Limousin breed cow weighed about 1.1 tonnes and was named Wirabumi, with a white muzzle. Masjid Istiqlal’s sacrificial committee head, Mas’ud Halimin, stated that dozens of animals had been received for this year’s Eid al-Adha. ‘So far, 64 cows and 13 goats,’ he said on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. Previously, President Prabowo Subianto had prepared a large-scale sacrificial donation for this year’s Eid al-Adha, with a total of 1,098 premium cows to be distributed across Indonesia. The massive cattle were not only allocated to regional governments but also to Islamic boarding schools, socio-religious institutions, community leaders, and religious figures. 500 cows were specifically allocated to educational institutions, pesantrens, and community leaders, while the remaining 598 were distributed to all provinces, regencies, and cities across Indonesia.
