Prabowo and Gibran to donate sacrificial cattle to Istiqlal Mosque next week
President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka will sacrifice cattle at Masjid Istiqlal for Idul Adha 1447 Hijriah. Acting Grand Imam of Masjid Istiqlal Mulawarman Hannase said Prabowo and Gibran had confirmed their plan to hand over the sacrificial animals to Masjid Istiqlal.
‘Mr Prabowo and Gibran will provide sacrificial cattle,’ Mulawarman told reporters on Saturday, 23 May 2026.
However, he could not yet confirm the breed of cattle to be donated by Prabowo and Gibran. Mulawarman said the handover ceremony is planned for Monday (25 May).
‘Possibly Monday (handover),’ he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of Ceremonial Affairs at Mas’ud Halimin said that, besides Prabowo and Gibran, several state officials had also confirmed they would sacrifice at Masjid Istiqlal. Among them is Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkum HAM).
‘Insyaallah RI-1 and RI-2 will sacrifice at Istiqlal. Of other officials known so far, the Police Chief and Kemenkum have confirmed,’ he said.
According to him, the sacrificial cattle for the President and Vice-President typically weigh more than 1 tonne. The type of cattle being prepared is usually Limousin or Bali cattle.
‘RI-1 and RI-2 cattle are usually over 1 tonne, Limousin or Bali cattle,’ he added.
