Prabowo and Gibran Attend National Symposium with Thousands of Rectors and Lecturers

President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka attended the National Symposium of the Indonesian Science and Technology Industry Convention at the Jakarta Convention Center on Friday (26/6/2026). Based on CNBC Indonesia’s observations, Prabowo and Gibran arrived at the location around 16.00 WIB. Prabowo was seen wearing a brown safari suit, while Gibran wore a white shirt. In his remarks, Prabowo appreciated the role of teachers, including professors. According to him, professors play a role in pushing a nation to become a developed country. ‘Professors are the smartest people in a country. A country that wants to rise, wants to advance, must utilise or mobilise the potential and capabilities of its campuses,’ said Prabowo. According to the head of state, every innovation, every change, and every advancement in every nation throughout human civilisation has always originated from the best thinkers. ‘All developments in human life are determined by science and technology in a broad sense. From small groups of humans who lived nomadically searching for food, they eventually discovered agricultural technology. Agrarian societies emerged, and over hundreds of years, thousands of years of human development, we have arrived at our current condition,’ he said. The event was attended by 2,600 rectors, deans, and lecturers from public and private universities across Indonesia. The event served as a discussion space between the government, universities, and stakeholders.
