Prabowo and Gibran attend Independence Carnival at Monas
President Prabowo Subianto, accompanied by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, watched the ‘Karnaval Bersatu Harmoni Nusantara’ parade as part of the 81st anniversary celebrations of Indonesia’s independence at the National Monument (Monas) area in Jakarta on Monday evening.
The President arrived at the south side of Monas in a Maung vehicle at around 7.15 p.m. Western Indonesia Time, while Vice President Gibran had arrived earlier at around 6.45 p.m.
Prabowo, wearing a brown beskap and a black kopiah, then proceeded to the VIP stage together with Gibran.
Also accompanying the President were Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya, Indonesian Military Commander General Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
The carnival parade was opened with a performance by the Genderang Suling Canka Praditya Wiratama of the Defence University.
A total of 200 personnel performed the song ‘Maju Tak Gentar’ as they passed before the President.
Prabowo stood and gave a salute as the group passed in front of the VIP stage.
The programmes highlighted included food and energy self-sufficiency, Free Nutritious Meals, People’s Schools, Free Health Checks, Red and White Cooperatives, and the Three Million Houses Programme.
The Ministry of Home Affairs float was among the first groups to pass, followed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a theme of Pancasila and a pinisi ship, and the National Nutrition Agency which presented the theme of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units.
Representatives of the National Nutrition Agency also handed over food from the Free Nutritious Meals Programme to Prabowo and Gibran.
A number of ministers were also on their ministry floats, including Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia.
The Cabinet Secretariat also presented a float themed ‘Pandu Nawasena Garuda Sang Penuntun Masa Depan’ carrying messages about the government’s achievements.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya was on the float waving the Red and White flag.
The carnival took a route from the Monas area towards the Horse Statue, Sarinah, and up to the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout.
The Independence Night programme was also enlivened by musical performances, a culinary area for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), a fireworks display, and a drone show.
