Prabowo and Gibran Attend Bersatu Nusantara Carnival at Monas

President Prabowo Subianto attended the Bersatu Nusantara Carnival held at the National Monument (Monas) square in Jakarta on Monday (17/8).

The carnival was part of the series of celebrations for the 81st anniversary of Indonesia’s independence.

Besides Prabowo, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo were also in attendance.

The carnival began with a performance titled ‘The Sabang-Merauke Pageant: Only Indonesia Has It’.

It continued with a decorated vehicle carnival featuring entries from all ministries, state institutions, and government agencies.

Previously, the Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) had prepared traffic engineering measures to anticipate vehicle congestion during the decorated vehicle carnival.

Traffic management and diversion were implemented situationally from 19.00 to 23.00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB). The measures covered a number of road sections as well as access routes to the Monas area, Thamrin, Sudirman, and Dukuh Atas.

Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency, Budi Awaluddin, said officers would also consider closing one lane if traffic conditions and public density on the ground required such a step.

The carnival departed from Jalan Silang Merdeka Daya Barat-Monas. The route then continued along the eastern side of Jalan M.H. Thamrin, the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout, the eastern side of Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, before ending at Jalan Galunggung-Taman Dukuh Atas Skatepark.

The Jakarta Transportation Agency also deployed around 500 personnel to manage traffic flow at several points during the event.

‘Officers will continue to carry out situational management, adjusting to conditions and the movement of the public on the ground,’ Budi said.
