Prabowo and Cabinet Ministers Pay Zakat Fitrah at Palace
President Prabowo Subianto and his Red and White Cabinet ministers paid zakat fitrah and zakat mal at the State Palace in Central Jakarta on Friday, 13 March 2026. The zakat payment took place before the cabinet meeting at the palace.
The zakat paid by Prabowo and his ministers was channelled through the National Zakat Board (Baznas). Baznas officers set up several tables within the State Palace to process the zakat payments from the President and his cabinet.
When paying zakat, Prabowo approached one of these tables accompanied by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Gibran made his zakat payment at the same location first.
Prabowo’s personal assistant, Agus Surahman, was seen placing a red paper bag on the table where Prabowo made his zakat payment. After the zakat was accepted, Prabowo recited a prayer together with the Baznas officer serving him.
Before Prabowo, several Red and White Cabinet members had already paid their zakat at the State Palace. Among them were Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman, Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar, and Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.
Following the zakat payment, Prabowo and his ministers held a cabinet meeting at the State Palace. All members of the Red and White Cabinet, including ministers, deputy ministers, agency heads and presidential advisers, were invited.
According to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, the meeting would discuss the government’s preparations for Eid al-Fitr 2026. “Today there will be a cabinet meeting on preparations for Eid,” Teddy said in a statement on Friday, 13 March 2026.
Prior to this cabinet meeting, the President had previously held a plenary cabinet session on 6 January 2026. That meeting took place at Prabowo’s private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, in the form of a retreat.
On that occasion, Prabowo reprimanded cabinet members. State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi conveyed this reprimand during the closed session of the retreat and evaluation meeting of the Red and White Cabinet.
Prasetyo shared this information during a break in the retreat. “The President gave a reprimand in the sense of spurring on spirits,” said Prasetyo when speaking to journalists during a retreat break on 6 January 2026.
According to Prasetyo, the President’s reprimand was issued because he wanted his cabinet members to work faster. However, Prasetyo did not disclose which ministers had been reprimanded by Prabowo.
