Prabowo and Belarus President to Launch 2026-2030 Bilateral Roadmap

Foreign Minister Sugiono has revealed several matters to be discussed during the meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko at Merdeka Palace. One of the key items is the launch of a bilateral cooperation roadmap between Indonesia and Belarus for 2026-2030. Sugiono stated that Lukashenko’s visit is a reciprocal one, following Prabowo’s trip to Belarus on 15 July 2025. From that visit, numerous potential areas of bilateral cooperation have continued to be developed. ‘As we are also aware, the signing of the EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) CEPA (Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement) has taken place, and Belarus is one of the countries that has ratified it,’ said Sugiono at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday (2/7/2026). ‘This shows that our bilateral relations are entering, if I may say, a new, more intensive phase. From this, a bilateral relations roadmap across various sectors between Indonesia and Belarus will also be launched today,’ he continued. A series of intensive meetings have been developed, culminating in a written agreement to formulate a cooperation roadmap for the two countries. Cooperation will be carried out in various strategic sectors, including food and energy security, which are priority programmes for President Prabowo. ‘Our primary interest, as this is also in line with the President’s programmes, especially in the fields of food security and energy security, more intensive cooperation in these areas will also be solidified,’ said Sugiono. ‘Several agricultural products and particularly raw materials for fertiliser will also be cooperated on between Belarus and Indonesia,’ he added. This visit to Indonesia is President Lukashenko’s second, following one in 2013. Sugiono expressed hope that this visit would enhance strategic cooperation and strengthen relations between the two countries. ‘And we hope this reciprocal visit will further strengthen the relations between the two countries, and also strengthen our cooperation in order to boost the economy and alternatives for the resources we need,’ he remarked.
