Prabowo Amused as Crowd Cheers Cabinet Secretary Teddy More Loudly

President Prabowo Subianto made a light-hearted remark when greeting Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya at the XVII National Farmers and Fishermen’s Week (Penas) peak event at the David-Tony Sports Centre in Limboto, Gorontalo. He was surprised by the crowd’s uproarious reaction when Teddy’s name was mentioned.

The event was held at the Limboto Sports Centre, Gorontalo, on Wednesday (24/6/2026). Prabowo was greeting the officials in attendance at the start of his speech when the crowd began chanting Teddy’s name, urging Prabowo to acknowledge him.

“Teddy, Teddy, Teddy,” the crowd chanted.

Prabowo then called out Teddy’s name, which was met with an enthusiastic response from the attendees. The sound of applause broke through the event’s atmosphere.

“Secretary of the Cabinet of the Republic of Indonesia, Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya,” Prabowo said.

Upon hearing this, Teddy stood up and saluted. He also briefly waved to the crowd.

Prabowo then joked that he himself was the head of state. He referenced Teddy’s military rank.

“A Lieutenant Colonel gets welcomed like that. I’m the president here,” Prabowo said, drawing laughter from the crowd.

Also present at the event were members of the Red and White Cabinet, including Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman, Transmigration Minister Iftitah Sulaiman, Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo, Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, and Marine Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono.
