President Prabowo Subianto highlighted the incident of a collision between the long-distance train Argo Bromo Anggrek and a KRL train at Bekasi Timur Station in Bekasi City. Prabowo stated that he would repair all crossings.

This was conveyed by Prabowo after visiting the train accident victims at Bekasi City Hospital on Tuesday (28/4/2026). Initially, Prabowo mentioned that there are 1,800 such crossing points on Java island, like the one in Bekasi.

“Then on Java there are 1,800 points that are also crossings like this, I think from the Dutch era, how many decades have passed,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo ordered his subordinates to repair all the crossings. According to Prabowo, the repairs will range from setting up guard posts to determining whether flyovers need to be built.

“Now let’s settle all of that, I have ordered us to repair all those crossings, whether by setting up guard posts or with flyovers, the implementers will be appointed later,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo stated that repairing these crossings will cost approximately Rp 4 trillion. Prabowo emphasised that the repairs must be carried out immediately.

“We calculate around nearly Rp 4 trillion for safety and because we really need trains, now it’s been decades, now is the time to do it,” he said.

It is known that this train accident incident occurred on Monday (27/4) night. It was reported at 06.34 WIB this morning that seven passengers died in this train accident incident. Meanwhile, 81 people were reported to have been injured.

“The number of victims from last night who died is 7 people and 81 injured are being treated,” revealed KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin.

The Accident Event

Based on video footage received by the editorial team, the atmosphere at Bekasi Timur Station appeared tense and filled with passengers. Heroic actions were seen as fellow passengers helped each other evacuate victims on the platform area.

Several passengers appeared limp and seated on the platform in a state of shock after the hard impact occurred. Several people were also seen with head injuries and attempted to provide first aid independently.

The condition of the KRL train set that was hit was still held on the side of the platform with the doors open, but all the lights inside the carriages were completely off.

In another video clip, severe damage was visible on one of the Commuter Line KRL sets that was crumpled after being hit by the long-distance train. Inside the pitch-black carriage, panic erupted as several passengers were still trapped inside.

The hysterical screams of passengers could be clearly heard in the darkness of the carriage, while others tried to find a way out amid the train’s powerless state.
