Prabowo: All Subsidised Goods to Be Distributed via Kopdes Merah Putih
President Prabowo Subianto has affirmed that all subsidised staple goods will be distributed through the Kopdes Merah Putih (KDMP) village and sub-district cooperatives so that they are received directly by the public.
Prabowo made the statement during his address at the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives and the Regional Representatives Council (DPR-DPD) held at the Nusantara Building in the Senayan Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, on Friday, 14 August 2026.
“All subsidised goods will be channelled through the Kopdes Merah Putih. Therefore, subsidised goods must not and cannot be traded,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo explained that subsidised goods represent the people’s money. Accordingly, he said, the people’s money cannot be traded.
“Subsidies are the people’s money. Subsidised goods are subsidised from the people’s money, for the people, and are not merchandise,” he stressed.
On this occasion, Prabowo also noted that the presence of the KDMP is a manifestation of strengthening the people’s economy. To date, 10,000 KDMP have been built, with 3,300 already operational, and the target for 2026 is to build 30,000 KDMP.
“Ladies and gentlemen, with the Kopdes Merah Putih, for the first time in Indonesia’s history since we received sovereignty, the state will control its own supply chain,” Prabowo asserted.
For this reason, Prabowo said the presence of the KDMP is the government’s effort to prevent the market from being manipulated by capital owners without regard for the condition of the public, who could be increasingly squeezed.
“The market can be manipulated, the market can be damaged, the market can be controlled by those who command large capital. And therefore our people must be helped, we must organise and empower them through cooperatives. Cooperatives that are assisted, cooperatives that are strengthened, cooperatives that are empowered,” he explained.
