JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has warned all state officials to reform and correct themselves so as not to become supporters of corruption that harms the people.

“All other state officials must also reform themselves. The Attorney General’s Office, the Police, and the Military must correct themselves, and must eliminate corruption from within their respective institutions,” said Prabowo in his speech during the inauguration of the Marsinah Museum, in Nglundo Village, Sukomoro District, Nganjuk Regency, East Java, Saturday (16/5/2026).

Prabowo repeated his statement, emphasising that all state officials must reform themselves, cleanse themselves, and must be brave enough to make corrections.

“Do not let state officials be behind corruption, supporting corruption, supporting smuggling, supporting drugs, supporting gambling. This must not happen!”

“Be the People’s Army, be the People’s Police that the people love! And this has been initiated by the leadership of the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces) and the leadership of the Police,” he said.

Because he ordered his subordinates not to engage in corruption, Prabowo said that he was mocked by other countries.

However, Prabowo did not heed the mockery.

The most important thing, according to him, is the welfare of the people.

“Am I being mocked by other countries? I am used to being mocked, it doesn’t matter, let them mock. The people who are suffering suffer more every day, if I am mocked, so what?”

“They (ask) why is the Police taking care of corn? Why is the Military taking care of rice fields? Well, this is what I mean, the TNI is the People’s Army, our Police must be the People’s Police, and this is what the current leaders of the police are working on,” he said.

Many state officials, who have been given trust, are actually using it to engage in corruption, Prabowo said.

“I shake my head and feel sad that every day I receive reports of officials who are corrupt. I am sad. The people I appointed, the people I trained, the people I gave honour and important positions to, once they are in office, they become corrupt, stealing the people’s money,” he added.
