Prabowo: All Indonesian Citizens are Shareholders of the Nation's Wealth
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto stated that all Indonesian citizens are shareholders of the nation’s wealth and are entitled to enjoy the benefits of national assets.
This statement was made by Prabowo during a speech at the inauguration of the Ibu Marsinah Museum and a transit home in Nganjuk Regency, East Java, on Saturday (16 May 2026).
According to Prabowo, this concept aligns with the spirit of a family nation, as outlined in Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution.
“To all entrepreneurs, I invite you to work together to create an ‘Indonesia Incorporated’. ‘Indonesia Incorporated’ essentially means a family nation,” said Prabowo, as quoted from a YouTube broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat, Saturday.
He said that all leaders at every level have a responsibility to fight for the people’s rights to the nation’s wealth.
Prabowo also reminded state officials not to collude and deprive the community of their rights to national wealth.
“Instead, leaders and officials who are elected should not collude to deprive the people of their rights to the wealth of all of Indonesia,” Prabowo said.
On that occasion, Prabowo also denied the notion that he rejected the free market mechanism.
“I am not against the free market mechanism, but I understand that the free market can be misused,” he said.
According to him, poor people cannot compete equally with large investors without government intervention.
“Poor people are asked to compete with these large investors, but they cannot, it is impossible,” he said.
Therefore, Prabowo affirmed that the government must intervene to protect the poor.
“So, we are open. Let’s work together. This is our common struggle, and its symbol is Ibu Marsinah. And finally, we can take small steps to uphold justice,” he concluded.
