JAKARTA, KOMPAS.COM — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto targeted a reduction in poverty and the open unemployment rate in his remarks on the Macroeconomic Framework (KEM) and the Core Principles of Fiscal Policy (PPKF) for the 2027 RAPBN. “Therefore, the poverty rate is targeted to fall to the range of 6.0 to 6.5 per cent from the previous target of 6.5 to 7.5,” Prabowo said in a plenary session of the DPR at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. “Meanwhile, the open unemployment rate must fall to the range of 4.30 to 4.87 per cent from the previous target of 4.44 to 4.96,” he added. Prabowo also targeted an improvement in the Gini ratio to the range of 0.362 to 0.367 from the previous target of 0.377 to 0.380. He emphasised that the gap between the richest and the poorest must not widen. “The gap between the wealthiest and the poorest should not widen; in fact, we must strive to continue narrowing it,” he said. Prabowo became the first president to personally present the government’s macroeconomic and fiscal policy directions to the DPR. The plenary session also discussed the evaluation of amendments to the second National Legislative Programme (Prolegnas) Priority Bills 2026 and heard the views of the factions on the Polri Bill proposed by Commission III of the DPR.
