Prabowo Ahead of Board of Peace Meeting: We Continue to Seek Real Solutions for Palestine
President Prabowo Subianto accepted an invitation from President Donald Trump to attend the Board of Peace (BoP) meeting to discuss the Palestine issue. Prabowo also had other agenda items to address with Trump.
“As you know, I am here at the invitation of the President of the United States for a very important meeting of the Board of Peace. This is the first official meeting of the board, which was established to oversee the implementation and sustainability of the ceasefire in Gaza. We are striving to continue paving the way towards a real and lasting solution to the Palestine issue,” Prabowo said at the Business Summit at the US Chamber of Commerce in Washington DC, United States, on Wednesday (18/2/2026) local time.
In addition, Prabowo revealed another item on his agenda with Trump — concluding trade tariff negotiations between the two countries. He assessed that such an agreement holds strategic significance for the business community and investors in both nations, and indeed across the wider Pacific region.
“Furthermore, I am here to finalise a major trade agreement between our two countries. I believe this is an agreement that carries great significance for our businesses and investors, both in our two countries and across the wider Pacific region. It sends a clear signal that Indonesia and the United States choose to continue and deepen economic cooperation, stronger market access, and greater certainty for the business community,” Prabowo said.
Prabowo also highlighted the importance of certainty for the business community. Drawing on his background as a businessman before entering politics, Prabowo said he understands the needs and concerns of business leaders. As such, he stated that Indonesia is seeking serious long-term partners who are prepared to work together to grow the economy.
“For business leaders, certainty is extremely important. Before I entered politics, I was also a businessman. That is why I think I can understand the business community with greater empathy. We are looking for serious long-term partners — partners who are willing to work with us, grow the economy together, reap mutual benefits, and deliver reciprocal advantages,” Prabowo continued.
Furthermore, Prabowo expressed his hope that Indonesia can find partners willing to engage in the nation’s modernisation and industrialisation agenda.
“We hope to find partners who are ready to join us in our ongoing efforts to modernise and industrialise my country. As President, my responsibility is very clear: I must guarantee my country’s sovereignty, guarantee good governance, and guarantee stability and peace. I must deliver real and concrete benefits to my people in the shortest possible time,” Prabowo said.
