Prabowo Agrees with Macron on Middle East Stability, Affirms Support for Palestine

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto agreed with French President Emmanuel Macron on the need for stability in the Middle East. The situation in the Middle East has direct implications for many countries, particularly the energy sector. “I agree with President Macron that Middle East stability is crucial and will directly impact global energy conditions and supply chains,” Prabowo said after meeting French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace in Paris on Thursday, 28 May 2026. Therefore, Indonesia and France consider Middle East peace a shared interest. France, in particular, has been a leading advocate for Palestinian statehood in Europe. “I am also pleased that France is among the pioneers urging European and Western nations to support a two-state solution for Palestinian statehood,” he added. For Indonesia, Middle East peace cannot be achieved without a two-state solution and justice for the Palestinian people. “Indonesia remains firm in its stance that Middle East peace is impossible without a two-state solution and justice for Palestinians,” he stressed. According to Prabowo, Indonesia wants to see France and Europe play a stronger role to cooperate in a multipolar world. “We are confident that a multipolar world will bring balance and support global peace,” he added.
