Prabowo affirms legal certainty before global investors
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Danantara Indonesia Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Pandu Sjahrir said President Prabowo Subianto provided assurances that Indonesia guarantees legal certainty for prospective global investors.
At a business meeting held in Washington DC, United States, on Friday (20/2) local time, Pandu said the statement was met with appreciation from leaders of global investment firms.
According to him, the investors’ appreciation was inseparable from the President’s direct leadership in opening the strategic dialogue.
“There was considerable additional interest from these investors to invest and collaborate both within Indonesia and outside Indonesia,” Pandu told reporters following the meeting.
He said investors specifically appreciated President Prabowo’s commitment to strengthening the legal system and regulatory certainty as the principal foundation for long-term investment.
According to Pandu, Prabowo’s direct presence and involvement in receiving global CEOs also served as a strong signal of Indonesia’s seriousness in building strategic partnerships.
Several investors were even considering opening representative offices in Indonesia as a form of long-term commitment.
“Because in their language, boots on the ground is very important, and they greatly appreciated that the President could receive them all,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) chairman Anindya Bakrie assessed that the President’s emphasis on corporate governance and legal certainty was the central message strengthening global business confidence.
“We saw for ourselves that firstly, Danantara was greatly appreciated as a trading partner by the CEOs, and secondly, we also observed the President emphasising corporate governance and legal certainty, which was truly underlined and appreciated,” Anindya said.
He said Danantara’s approach to de-risking and encouraging joint participation through crowd-in was aligned with the President’s direction to build the national economy through mutual cooperation and sustainability.
The meeting affirmed President Prabowo’s active role in leading Indonesia’s economic diplomacy, whilst strengthening Indonesia’s position as a stable, trusted, and open strategic partner for global investment.
