Prabowo Affirms Indonesia's Support for Palestinian Independence Is Non-Negotiable

President Prabowo Subianto has affirmed that Indonesia’s support for the Palestinian struggle for independence is a non-negotiable principle. Prabowo stressed that Indonesia will continue to pursue a free and active foreign policy while respecting all countries and global powers.

The affirmation was delivered by Prabowo during his speech at the 28th anniversary of the National Awakening Party (PKB). Initially, Prabowo emphasised that as a non-aligned nation, Indonesia does not wish to have enemies or disturb other countries.

‘We are grateful that we are non-aligned, we have no enemies, we respect all countries, we respect all powers. We want to be free and active,’ said Prabowo at the JCC, Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (23/7/2026).

Prabowo stated that his administration’s foreign policy direction is based on the principle of being a good neighbour, or the good neighbour policy. Indonesia wishes to establish friendly relations and cooperation with all parties without losing its freedom to determine its own stance.

‘Indonesia’s foreign policy under the government led by President Prabowo Subianto, our policy is to be a good neighbour. The good neighbour policy. We want to be good neighbours,’ he said.

Despite being committed to maintaining good relations with all global powers, Prabowo stressed that Indonesia’s stance in supporting the Palestinian people’s struggle for independence will not change.

‘We are good to all powers, but what we cannot bargain over is supporting the Palestinian struggle for independence,’ he asserted.

Prabowo also conveyed that Indonesia desires peace and has no intention of disturbing other nations. However, Indonesia will still defend its sovereignty, independence, and future if faced with disturbances.

He emphasised that the main strength of Indonesia’s defence lies in the universal people’s defence system and the people’s love for their nation and country.

‘We do not want to disturb others. But all Indonesian people will defend their sovereignty, will defend their independence, will defend their future,’ he said.

Prabowo stressed that Indonesia will remain consistent in pursuing a free and active foreign policy, fostering friendships with all nations, while remaining steadfast in championing humanitarian values, justice, and the right of every nation to live independently.
