President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to maintaining and nurturing friendships and good relations with other nations. Prabowo emphasised that Indonesia does not wish to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries.

“The Indonesian nation under the leadership of my government and all my assistants are determined to maintain friendships and good relations with all peoples, with all nations, with all powers. We do not wish to interfere in the internal affairs of any country. We respect all powers in the world, both great and small,” Prabowo said in his address at the Nuzulul Quran ceremony at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

Prabowo stated that this stance aligns with the path shown by Indonesia’s founding fathers. The principle also accords with the teachings of religious leaders who emphasise the importance of maintaining peace.

Prabowo noted that efforts to maintain peace cannot rely solely on prayer and hope, but also require dedicated effort and hard work to achieve prosperity and justice for society.

“Certainly, maintaining peace is not done merely through prayer and hope, but also through effort and hard work to achieve prosperity and justice. We recognise that nothing falls from the sky without our dedicated effort and hard work. We have been blessed by the Almighty with very great wealth,” he said.

On this occasion, Prabowo also emphasised the importance of collective efforts to eradicate poverty, hunger, and suffering among the people. He stressed that no citizens should be left behind.

“On this occasion, I would like to reaffirm that we must work hard to eliminate poverty, hunger, and suffering from all our people. We must not allow any of our people to be abandoned. We are capable, and we have been given sufficient wealth by the Almighty. Now it is the leaders who must work well,” he said.

Furthermore, Prabowo emphasised his commitment to eradicating corruption and embezzlement in government. He described corruption as a practice prohibited by all religions and as an obstacle to national progress.

“I thank Professor Quraish Shihab. Thank you for the support, thank you to everyone. Indeed, we must eliminate corruption, embezzlement, all practices that are not right and not good, which are prohibited by all religions. This is religious teaching, and it is also the teaching of history,” he said.

“No country succeeds when its government is unable to cleanse itself of corruption. This is the teaching of religion and history. We must not lose to those who wish to seize the wealth of the people, take it to another country, and keep the Indonesian nation and people weak,” he continued.
